Sound like you?

Are you a CEO, owner or leader in a small-to-midsize business who wants to grow faster and easier, but struggles with working in your business more than on it? And do you sometimes feel that leading your business just seems too hard?

I know how that feels. And I can assure you…

  • If you want to spend more time on strategic growth than juggling operational tasks, and stop feeling like you need to be everywhere at once (expected to have all the answers)…

  • If you want to feel less stressed and lonely, while others carry more of the load…

  • If you want your results and impact to break through to a whole new level…

…then you’re in the right place. I may be able to help you.

My name is Doug Haynes, and I coach leaders like you to create the right change so you get more of what you want in work and life.

If that’s you, this means you can feel more confidence, find more time for what matters, and (yes) make a lot more money.

Hi, I’m Doug Haynes.

It’s nice to meet you.

I’m a retired CEO turned Change Agent for CEOs, business owners and leaders who want to grow.

As an Executive Coach and Vistage Chair, my mission is to light the way for leaders to create a more profitable, fulfilling business and more impact in the world.

Leadership is making the right change to inspire others to do what’s necessary to get where you want to go. You’re either growing or declining.

I believe your business will never grow faster than you do. When you start improving yourself as a leader, your business results, personal and team fulfillment will skyrocket.

That’s hard to do on your own.

So I’m here to serve. Let’s get to know each other.

LET’S BE HONEST…

Coaching is not on your radar

Leading your business is a big job. And you don’t have time to waste on something else that takes you away from what’s important.

So why talk with me?

Because I spent years chasing my own model of success as a CEO. And it took me a lot longer, with a lot more pain and struggle than necessary.

I was always doing things I’d never done—and didn’t want people to know. I read books. Tried and failed a lot. Made too many mistakes. Spent too much time at work (even when I was home). And often felt alone.

Most leaders say they don’t have time to invest in personal growth. They’re too busy leading. Maybe you’re okay with the status quo. Or unwilling to let anyone see what you don’t know. But deep down, you know you and your team can be more.

I know because I’ve been there.

If you’re ready to drop the excuses and start growing yourself and your team, then we should talk. You might be my next member or client.

But be warned.

Nobody ever works with me or joins Vistage to be the same.

A change agent is a catalyst for change. Someone who listens, and asks the hard questions. Who challenges your thinking, and encourages better ways to do things. A thought partner to help you see through blind spots. Get clear on the right priorities. And inspire people to perform. So you achieve far more than you could on your own.

My Story

My entire career of 40+ years has prepared me for what I do now.

  1. I began as a journalist, honing my ability to ask good questions and communicate effectively—invaluable skills in coaching.

  2. I became press secretary for a U.S. Senator and later ran for Congress, teaching me the importance of education, effort and free enterprise as the best engines for growth, opportunity and prosperity.

  3. Then I transitioned to corporate as SVP and Director of Marketing for a fast-growing regional bank, where I learned the value of core values and transparent communication as I helped CEOs and senior executives navigate significant change during deregulation.

  4. But corporate wasn’t for me, so I started my own business. For over 15 years, I experienced the challenges and triumphs of entrepreneurship-- from the anxiety of the Great Recession to the success of rebuilding and leading a company with a $10 million budget and 125 employees.

  5. Ultimately, I chose to retire and move closer to family, leading me to a new, fulfilling role of training leaders in 25+ states.

  6. This brought me to Vistage, the premier CEO coaching and peer advisory organization, where I now serve as a CEO Coach and Peer Group Chair in the North Carolina Core area of the Piedmont Triad.

  7. I also coach leaders outside of Vistage and help leadership teams become more cohesive and improve culture, where I’m trained by Patrick Lencioni in his organizational health model. I sometimes give keynote speeches and conduct leadership workshops.

How can I serve you?

How I Can Help You

In monthly 1:1 coaching sessions, I ask probing questions about what’s working and not, listen to your plans and frustrations, challenge your thinking, and hold you accountable for what you say you want to do. All in confidence.

  • Vistage Peer Advisory Boards

I lead groups of like-minded leaders fully committed to trust, caring, challenge and growth. I help them solve their biggest problems and opportunities. Right now, I have two groups: CEOs/business owners and trusted advisors.

  • Leadership Team Consulting

I’ll help you build a stronger, more cohesive team at the top with a process I learned from leadership expert Patrick Lencioni. Less dysfunction. Higher morale and engagement. Better teamwork and productivity. And bigger results.

In a 90-minute free coaching session, we’ll dive deep on your challenges and opportunities. If it feels like a fit, I may invite you to become a Vistage member or client. But it’s not right for everyone. I’m very selective.
